Trombone Festival ‘Slide Factory’ is back!
The 9th edition is on June 14, 15 and 16 in De Doelen in Rotterdam.
All facets of the trombone in the spotlight! Soloists, orchestras, ensembles and big names such as Joseph Alessi (US), Jörgen van Rijen (NL) and Dennis Rollins (UK) shine in Rotterdam. They offer us both the intimacy and spectacle of the trombone during a wide range of concerts and performances.
Highlights
The ninth edition of ‘Slide Factory’, the International Trombone Festival, will take place in De Doelen in Rotterdam from 14 to 16 June. More than 145 trombonists perform a mix of classical music, jazz, newly composed works, old music and pop during 17 concerts. In addition to the concert in collaboration with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Jörgen van Rijen (NL) on Friday evening, the Gala Concert on June 15 also promises a lot of trombone spectacle with, among others, the New Trombone Collective (NL), Sasha Romero (USA) and Eijiro Nagakawa (JP). Later on Saturday evening, jazz giant Dennis Rollins (UK) will play with his Velocity trio and on Sunday the Slide Monsters guarantee a virtuoso program where classical, jazz and pop meet. We are also very proud to present the Marine Band of the Royal Navy Netherlands Navy which will play with soloists Polina Tarasenko (UA), Rommert Groenhof (NL), Marshall Gilkes (US) and Brandt Attema (NL).
The initiator of this festival is the New Trombone Collective (NTC). This group of renowned Dutch trombonists does everything they can to make the trombone and its music known to the widest possible audience. Successfully. In addition to organizing the Trombone Festival Slide Factory, they run a music publishing company and coach up-and-coming talent in the Jong Trombone Collective.
From young talent to world top
Slide Factory is for young and old, lovers of all music movements and musicians of all levels. Whether you are a seasoned trombonist, an amateur player, a newcomer or an admirer, at Slide Factory there is room for everyone to participate, listen and be amazed. The focus of Slide Factory 2024 is on the different stages of talent. Learn to play the trombone yourself during a workshop, listen to the Young Trombone Collective or watch a masterclass for trombone students from conservatories. Young talents who performed during previous Slide Factory editions, such as Peter Moore (UK) and members of the Jong Trombone Collective, have now become popular soloists all over the world and will return to the Slide Factory spotlight in June.
