Rommert Groenhof

Rommert Groenhof, born in 1991, started studying bass trombone in 2010 at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. During this period he devoted himself to his passion for playing the trombone under the guidance of leading teachers such as Ben van Dijk, Jörgen van Rijen, Pierre Volders and Remko de Jager. He successfully completed his studies in 2014.

From 2014 to 2020, Rommert was part of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, where he further developed his skills as a bass trombonist. In 2020, Rommert joined the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played for three years.

Since September 1, 2022, Rommert has held the position of bass trombonist/contrabass trombonist at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to his work in an orchestra, Rommert Groenhof has also proven himself as a gifted soloist, who regularly shines on international stages. He has an impressive array of prestigious awards to his name, including the Donald Yaxley Bass Trombone Competition at the 2013 International Trombone Festival in Columbus, Georgia, and the Emory Remington Award for Trombone Ensembles with the Conservatory of Amsterdam Trombone Class at the same festival . In addition, together with the Thein Brothers Trombone Quartet, he won the ITA Quartet Competition at the 2014 International Trombone Festival in Rochester, New York.

With his undeniable talent, dedication and versatility, Rommert Groenhof is a source of inspiration for both his fellow musicians and the audience.
