How does it feel to let go when God is looking over your shoulder? Club Church, named after the famous queer nightclub in Amsterdam, is a performance inspired by a place of contradictions: the divine and the blasphemous.
For many members of the queer community, the club serves as a refuge for self-discovery, self-expression and acceptance. But at the same time it is also a place of secrets and shame, even for people who grew up in a religious setting.

Trombonists Sebastiaan Kemner and Andrew Macleod together explore the complex relationship between religion and queerness. In the setting of a nightclub and with music from a thousand years ago, all boundaries of genre and style are ignored.
