Slide Factory 2005
In 2005, under the name “Dutch Trombone Festival” the first Slide Factory Trombone Festival was held in Rotterdam. The special guest was Christian Lindberg and the audience was very enthusiastic about the program. A subsequent festival was inevitable.
The second Slide Factory took place in 2007. This time with the internationally known title “International Trombone Festival Europe” and guests like Michel Becquet, Mark Nightingale, Bart van Lier and Ilja Reijngoud. With Wycliffe Gordon and the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, element jazz was further developed within the festival. The festival had a growing number of concerts, as many as seven world premieres, a comprehensive workshop series and a successful outdoor spectacle.
Meet the world
The European Trombone Festival, Slide Factory 2009, was organized under the motto “Meet the World”. More than 11,000 visitors enjoyed 24 concerts, 11 world premieres and special collaborations including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
